- This amino acid is essential for the body. L-tyrosine is the starting material or precursor of important substances in the body. For example, L-tyrosine supports the natural production of adrenalin. Other messenger substances (neurotransmitters) such as dopamine and noradrenaline are also derived from this amino acid. It therefore has properties such as improving learning ability, memory and alertness as well as eliminating fatigue. Together with iodine, it forms a precursor for thyroid hormones and is therefore the starting material for these important hormones.
