Gall Pharma FAT Blocker Capsules is a dietary supplement with 280 mg chitosan per capsule. Chitosan is a naturally occurring substance which has the property of binding fats from food.
FAT Blocker is a polymer of unbranched chains of D-glucosamine and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine. It is therefore also known as polyglucosamine. Chitosan is technically obtained from chitin, which is extracted from the shells of shrimps and crabs.
The cellulose-like polymer binds fat and blocks fat absorption in the body so that it is excreted undigested. Chitosan has the property of binding fat primarily through an ionic bond. This main property of chitosan leads to a reduction in the biological availability of fat for humans. Due to its composition, chitosan is neither digested nor absorbed in the small intestine and is therefore excreted unchanged.
FAT Blocker capsules contain 280 mg chitosan powder in a hard gelatine capsule. Chitosan is a naturally occurring substance which has the property of binding fats from food. By taking chitosan, fat absorption in the gastrointestinal tract can be reduced. Excess fat molecules are bound and excreted before they can be absorbed. Chitosan can also help to prevent constipation and has acid-binding properties.
