Gall Pharma FAT Blocker Capsules are a dietary supplement containing 280 mg of chitosan per capsule. Chitosan is a naturally occurring substance that has the ability to bind fats from food.
FAT Blocker is a polymer consisting of unbranched chains of D-glucosamine and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine. It is therefore also referred to as polyglucosamine. Chitosan is technically derived from chitin, which is extracted from the shells of prawns and crabs.
This cellulose-like polymer binds fat and blocks its absorption in the body, so that it is excreted undigested. Chitosan binds fat primarily via an ionic bond. This key property of chitosan reduces the bioavailability of fat to humans. Due to its composition, chitosan is neither digested nor absorbed in the small intestine and is therefore excreted unchanged.
FAT Blocker capsules contain 280 mg of chitosan powder in a hard gelatine capsule. Chitosan is a naturally occurring substance that has the ability to bind fats from food. Taking chitosan can reduce fat absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. Excess fat molecules are bound and excreted before they can be absorbed. In addition, chitosan can help prevent constipation and also has acid-binding properties.
