Gall Pharma Cysteine Capsules is a food supplement containing 500 mg L-cysteine per capsule. L-cysteine is an amino acid that supports the immune system, acts as a free radical scavenger and contributes to the normal function of the body's defences.
L-cysteine is one of the non-essential, sulphur-containing amino acids. L-cysteine is the guiding amino acid in the synthesis of L-glutathione, a tripeptide consisting of three amino acids (L-cysteine, glycine and L-glutamine). L-glutathione is one of nature's most important antioxidants. The importance of L-cysteine is closely related to L-glutathione. L-cysteine is abundant in cabbage, spinach, peas, maize and grapes.
Properties of L-cysteine
- Radical scavenger: Together with L-glutamine, L-cysteine serves as the starting material for the synthesis of glutathione. Glutathione protects the cell from free radicals. Our current living conditions - high levels of physical and mental stress, an unbalanced diet and negative environmental influences - promote the formation of free radicals. They damage the cells and are therefore involved in the development of many diseases. Glutathione can render free radicals harmless.
- Increased defence: L-cysteine is important for immune function.
- Detoxification: The amino acid cysteine has supportive effects in the removal of heavy metals and can protect against the effects of smoke, alcohol and radiation.
