Gall Pharma Arginine / Ornithine / Lysine Capsules is a food supplement containing the amino acids L-arginine, L-ornithine and L-lysine. This combination of amino acids supports athletes during intense muscular exertion and aids detoxification.
Ornithine is a basic, non-proteinogenic amino acid produced in the urea cycle when urea is split off from L-arginine. It is found in many plants and is not itself a building block of protein. In combination with arginine, citrulline and aspartic acid, ornithine aids in the detoxification of ammonia. In this process, ammonia is converted into urea in the liver and excreted in the urine. Ornithine is also important for the release of the hormones insulin, prolactin, glucagon and growth hormone, and supports immune function.
Arginine, on the other hand, is a semi-essential amino acid and is found primarily in foods with a high protein content. Semi-essential amino acids are those which the body does not always produce in sufficient quantities. This occurs particularly during periods of physical exertion, such as during exercise, or under stress. In such cases, they should be specifically supplied to the body through diet or via dietary supplements. Arginine stimulates the synthesis of nitric oxide (NO), which leads to vasodilation.
Combining it with lysine is said to increase the effectiveness of arginine/ornithine. The two amino acids, arginine and ornithine, are involved in the release of growth hormone (STH) and are therefore also believed to have an anabolic effect. Furthermore, both support liver function, particularly in the detoxification of metabolites such as ammonia, which accumulate in greater quantities during high levels of physical exertion. They should be taken shortly before training or at night. You should not eat anything one to two hours before or after taking it, as carbohydrates would inhibit the release of growth hormones by triggering an insulin release, thereby negating the desired effect.
