Pater Severin bitter orange wine is a flavoured wine preparation with a perfectly balanced combination of bitter orange fluid extract, cinnamon tincture, gentian root extract and sweet wine.
The bitter orange or bitter orange is similar to an orange, but bitter and smaller. It is used as a remedy for nervousness, insomnia, loss of appetite and indigestion. Chinese cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia) belongs to the laurel family (Lauraceae). Cinnamon bark contains essential oil, cinnamaldehyde, eugenol and cinnamic acid. Cinnamon is said to have antispasmodic and calming properties. The yellow gentian (Gentiana lutea L.) belongs to the gentian family. Bitter drugs such as gentian root are also known as amara and are mainly of interest because of their bitter flavour.
