The bitter orange, or bitter orange (Citrus × aurantium L.), resembles an orange but is bitter and smaller. The bitter orange originated as a hybrid between the pomelo (Citrus maxima) and the mandarin (Citrus reticulata). The fruit is used to make orange marmalade, whilst the peel and juice of the bitter orange are used to produce the Italian bitter orange lemonade, Aranciata Amara. The bitter orange contains essential oil and bitter compounds. The bitter orange has beneficial effects on the stomach and intestinal tract.
The bitter orange syrup is produced in accordance with the Pharmacopoeia and therefore meets the highest standards.
