Bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva ursi (L.) SPRENG) from the heather family (Ericacea) is also known as wolfberry, sandberry or urine herb. Its ingredients are arbutin, methylarbutin, hydroquinone, tannins and flavonoids, as well as essential oil. The use of bearberry has a long tradition. Its positive effect on the bladder and kidneys is repeatedly mentioned, especially in folk medicine. The dried leaf drug is used in kidney and bladder tea mixtures.
