Silica consists mainly of silicic acid. This in turn refers to the combination of the trace element silicon with water. Silicon is an important building block of human tissue, maintains the elasticity of connective tissue and has a positive effect on the skin's metabolism. Silicon is also known to improve the growth of hair and nails. As the silicon content in the body decreases with increasing age, haemorrhoids and varicose veins can develop.
