The plant has ingredients such as essential oils (sesquiterpenols and sesquiterpenes), resin and tannins, which are said to be antiseptic, warming, skin-caring, antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, nerve-strengthening, calming, blood-purifying, harmonising, diuretic, relaxing and sleep-promoting. It is also known that sandalwood can be used as an aphrodisiac.
