Our skin acts as a protective barrier against the outside world. It shows us how well our immune system is functioning. Under normal circumstances, the skin can cope well with individual irritants, such as air pollution, strong UV radiation, the stresses of everyday life and an insufficiently healthy diet. If the strain becomes too great, this becomes apparent on the skin. It can no longer maintain its protective barrier, and the skin becomes chapped, reddened and dry, whilst blemishes may develop. Skincare with safflower oil supplies the skin with unsaturated fatty acids, cools and soothes stressed areas of skin and the underlying tissue, and regulates sebum production.
