Like black pepper, white pepper comes from the same plant (Piper nigrum). However, they differ both in the time of harvest and in their appearance. The main ingredient, piperine, is found in both varieties, although the proportion is higher in white pepper. White pepper is also used as a remedy for loss of appetite and digestive problems.
