The olive tree (Olea europaea L.), also known as the olive tree, comes from the olive tree family (Oleaceae) and is native to the Mediterranean region. Hildegard von Bingen already utilised the positive effects of the olive tree and used its components to treat digestive complaints and gout. The plant is also said to have cholesterol-lowering, diuretic, antihypertensive and antispasmodic effects.
