The green oat (Avena sativa L.) is a plant from the sweet grass family (Poaceae). The important ingredients of oats are β glucans, oligosaccharides, flavonoids, silicic acid, but also iron, zinc and manganese. Oats are known for their health-promoting properties. It is traditionally used to alleviate mild stress symptoms and as a sleep aid, as well as for anxiety and tension. Oats are also used as a tonic for bladder weakness.
