Green oats (Avena sativa L.) are a plant belonging to the grass family (Poaceae). The key constituents of oats are β-glucans, oligosaccharides, flavonoids and silicic acid, as well as iron, zinc and manganese. Oats are known for their health-promoting properties. They are traditionally used to alleviate mild symptoms of stress and as a sleep aid, as well as for anxiety and tension. Furthermore, oats are used as a tonic for urinary incontinence.
