Mountain pine (Pinus mugo) is a conifer and belongs to the pine family (Pinaceae). Mountain pine essential oil is extracted from its needles. Key constituents include 3-carene, pinene, camphene, myrcene and limonene. Mountain pine essential oil may have beneficial effects on painful conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system. When applied to the skin, mountain pine can stimulate blood circulation, thereby relieving tense muscles and providing relief for strained joints and nerves.
