Golden balm (Monarda didyma L.) is a member of the labiate family (Lamiaceae). The Native Americans were already aware of the positive effects of golden balm and used the plant with the large, purple-red lip flowers as a remedy. Ingredients with special properties such as expectorant, diaphoretic, sedative, menstrual regulating and diuretic include tannins, bitter substances and essential oil.
