The cranesbill, also often called stinking cranesbill or Ruprechtskraut (Geranium robertianum) belongs to the cranesbill family. The cranesbill gets its name from its ovaries, which look like pointed beaks. The plant parts used are the herb, which contains ingredients such as bitter substances, geraniin, tannins and essential oil. The plant drug is known to be used to treat diarrhoea, chronic gastritis, skin conditions and inflammation of the mouth and throat.
