Pater Severin Cardoon Root Spray is a dietary supplement for oral use, based on an ancient monastic recipe. It is produced from a 100 per cent aqueous/alcoholic extract of cardoon root.
The cardoon is a member of the Dipsacaceae family. In addition to iridoids, saponins, caffeic acid derivatives and inulin, the cardoon also contains bitter compounds and the glycoside scabioside. The dried root is primarily used; it possesses diuretic, antibacterial and blood-purifying properties. Teasel is mainly used to treat Lyme disease.
