Brazil nuts, which botanically speaking are not nuts at all but capsule fruits, thrive in the tropical climate of the Amazon region in South America at enormous altitudes. As an ingredient in trail mix, Brazil nuts are a delicious snack that provides quick energy in between meals. For the Brazil nut ointment, the valuable alcoholic extract of the Brazil nut is used and incorporated into an ointment base of lanolin, almond oil and jojoba oil. This is rich in vitamin E and selenium. Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, and selenium help to protect the cells from oxidative stress. Selenium repairs damaged skin and its astringent properties ensure a firm and even complexion. Brazil nut ointment therefore has the potential of an anti-ageing product, moisturises and makes the skin supple and soft.
