Pater Severin Bloodroot Spray is a dietary supplement for oral use, based on an ancient monastic recipe. It is made from a 100 per cent aqueous/alcoholic extract of bloodroot.
Canadian bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis L.) belongs to the poppy family (Papaveraceae). It owes its name to the reddish sap found in its root. The main active ingredients are benzylisoquinoline alkaloids (sanguinarine, chelerythrine, protopine and berberine). Bloodroot is used to treat headaches, migraines, rheumatic joint pain, respiratory tract infections, colds, rhinitis, otitis media and menopausal symptoms.
