Pater Severin Artichoke Spray is a dietary supplement for oral use, based on an old monastic recipe. It is made from a 100 per cent aqueous/alcoholic extract of artichoke leaves.
The artichoke (Cynara cardunculus, syn. Cynara scolymus) is a robust, thistle-like cultivated plant belonging to the Asteraceae family. The flavour of the artichoke ranges from slightly tart to mildly bitter. Artichoke preparations are said to have beneficial effects such as the relief of digestive complaints, the improvement of fat digestion, and the protection and regeneration of the liver and gallbladder.
