The artichoke (Cynara cardunculus, syn. Cynara scolymus) is a thistle-like, vigorous cultivated plant from the Asteraceae family. The flavour of the artichoke is slightly bitter to slightly bitter. Artichoke preparations are said to have positive effects such as alleviating digestive complaints, improving fat digestion and protecting and regenerating the liver and gall bladder.
