Angelica root (Angelica archangelica L.), also known as angelica, belongs to the umbelliferous family (Apiaceae). It is native to northern Europe and northern Asia. The positive properties of angelica root are due to the essential oils and bitter substances it contains. Angelica root has particularly positive effects on the stomach and intestines, as well as on bloating and flatulence. It is also used to treat loss of appetite.
