Mineral salts are functional ingredients used in oral care products. When eating meals, the tooth enamel is attacked by acids that form in dental plaque. This acid leaches important mineral salts from the tooth enamel, weakening it. Using a toothpaste containing mineral salts allows the enamel to be remineralised and hardened again whilst brushing.
