Calcium, vitamin D + K as a contribution to normal bone maintenance
When it comes to healthy bones, we can't get active soon enough. Essential: regular exercise that promotes bone metabolism and a calcium-rich diet.
The National Consumption Study (2008) revealed that 55% of women and 46% of men do not actually reach the DGE's recommended daily calcium intake of 1000 mg for adults.
The practical chewable tablets of Doppelherz system CALCIUM 1000 contribute to the maintenance of normal bones with calcium, vitamin D and vitamin K and contain 2 chewable tablets as a daily portion:
- 1000 mg calcium
- 1000 I.U. vitamin D3
- 75 μg vitamin K2
The chewable tablet dosage form is ideal for travelling, as it can be taken without water or if you have difficulty taking tablets. The chewable tablet has a fruity orange flavour and can be sucked or chewed!
Our bones: A constant construction site!
Every person has 206 bones, which make up around 12% of our body weight. Together they form the skeleton of the human body and protect the internal organs, and are characterised by their high strength. They can become twice as hard as granite, mainly due to the calcium stored in them. Around 99 % of the calcium in the body is stored in bones and teeth.
Beyond that, however, our skeleton does not have much in common with granite, because bones are a living substance that is subject to constant construction and decomposition processes like a large building site. There is a dynamic balance in which bone minerals are absorbed and released again.
Until around the age of 30, more bone mass is formed than is broken down. Unfortunately, this then changes and bone-degrading activity predominates. This is why it is so important to support bone formation as early as childhood through a calcium-rich diet, plenty of exercise and sunshine.
Because if there is not enough free calcium available, our body draws on the calcium stores in the bones and removes it from there.
In fact, certain medications such as cortisone or excessive consumption of foods such as cola drinks or coffee can also contribute to the mineral calcium being removed from our bones.
Calcium - the versatile mineral
The body contains up to 1.4 kg of calcium - mainly in bones and teeth
- Calcium contributes to normal energy metabolism
- Calcium contributes to normal muscle function
- Calcium contributes to normal signalling between nerve cells
Vitamin D and vitamin K - strong partners for bone health
To keep our bones healthy for as long as possible, we need sufficient calcium in our diet.
It has long been known that the sun vitamin vitamin D plays an important role in calcium metabolism. The "calcium incorporation helper" vitamin D controls the absorption of calcium and thus also contributes to bone preservation. Although the body can partially produce vitamin D itself through the effect of sunlight on the skin, this natural production is often insufficient in our latitudes and during the darker months of the year.
Vitamin D for the immune system
The great importance of vitamin D for our health is beyond question. Our bones are just as dependent on this all-rounder as our immune system.
The so-called "sun vitamin" can also make a significant contribution to the normal function of the immune system. This is because we now know that vitamin D influences various properties of the specific and non-specific immune system.
In sufficient quantities, it can mobilise the body's own defences and fight unwanted germs.
Vitamin K
In the chewable tablets of Doppelherz system CALCIUM 1000, vitamin D is usefully supplemented by vitamin K, which also plays a role in numerous bodily functions and serves as a partner to vitamin D: by supporting the mineralisation of the skeleton, vitamin K also contributes to the maintenance of normal bones.
Vitamin K occurs naturally in the forms vitamin K1 (phylloquinine) and K2 (menaquinone). Vitamin K1 is mainly found in the leaves of green plants. Vitamin K2, on the other hand, is found in animal and bacterially fermented foods such as yoghurt, sauerkraut or natto, a fermented Japanese soya bean dish.
All good things come in threes: the fruity chewable tablets from Doppelherz system with calcium + D3 + K2!
