Composition:
Crataegus D1, Cactus D1, Iberis amara D2, Spigelia D2, Kalium carbonicum D3.

Application:
Angina pectoris.

Properties and effectiveness:
Pain that is localised in the region of the heart, intensifies under stress and excitement, often radiates (usually into the left arm) and is frequently associated with anxiety is also generally referred to as "angina pectoris" without exact medical clarification. The transition from mild so-called functional to severe manifest symptoms is certainly a fluid one. The fact that the symptoms are often alternating and quite severe, often with long symptom-free intervals, opens up the possibility of therapeutic influence in this functional area.
Homeopathic remedies with their regulative character can have a controlling effect on the system of the heart, cardiac conduction, coronary vessels, blood pressure and nervous excitability. The focus is not on the isolated effect, e.g. only on the coronary vessels, as the presumed cause of the disorder, but on the overall situation in which the patient finds himself. It is not just the symptoms, it is also the fear of the symptoms - just as fear is inextricably linked to all disorders affecting the heart. Prolonged exposure to these mild and stimulating medicinal stimuli leads to a great deal of self-confidence on the part of the patient and to a reduction in the areas of tension with increased instability. The therapy of a cardiac disorder should be slowly built up and only gradually lead to the necessary intensification of the measures. As long as the body's own regulatory mechanisms can be stimulated, the organ can train itself. Especially in recent times, the trainability of the heart, including the diseased heart, and the resulting improvement has become a general knowledge and treatment asset.
Homeopathic medicines have the advantage that they act in this direction without toxicity (poisonous effect) and can often achieve considerable improvements. Coronary vasodilators and digitalis should not always be the exclusive remedies of choice when it comes to heart complaints and cardiac insufficiency. A gradual, cautious build-up of therapy often results in a much better response to and tolerance of any digitalis therapy that may be necessary and can easily be continued at the same time.
Insight into the complex range of action of the individual medicines is crucial for the choice of remedy.

Crataegus, the hawthorn, the best-known heart remedy in naturopathic medicine, has an effect on both the coronary vessels and the heart muscle. It also has an effect on blood pressure, where it acts as a blood pressure regulator, so to speak, and is able to lower high pressure and raise low pressure, as well as having a calming effect on the nerves. It has all these effects in a mild manner, so that it is ideally suited for long-term therapy and also as support for any digitalis therapy.

Cactus grandiflorus (Selenicereus g.), the queen of the night, is used because of its main relationship to the coronary vessels with a mild tonic effect on the heart muscle; it is often the violent, seizure-like complaints radiating into the left arm, combined with anxiety, which are followed by lasting improvement and disappearance of the seizures.

Iberis amara, the bow-tie flower, is a valuable homeopathic remedy in cases of cardiac arrhythmia with conspicuous weakness and stabbing heart pains, and when the mind is restless and irritable.

Spigelia, the worm herb: The prescription of this herbal remedy is based on the heart effect, whereby stabbing pains, radiation to the left arm and pulse irregularity may also be present.

Potassium carbonicum plays a special role in the treatment of heart complaints due to its constitutional relationship to despondency, excitement and nervousness. Every excitement of such easily excitable people triggers new complaints. In this context, potassium is also important in the water balance, where it can be associated with tissue swelling. Potassium can always be used primarily and supportively in any heart therapy.

These combined medicines and their active components provide an effective option in the treatment of heart complaints and heart weaknesses, which are usually inextricably linked, whether in the case of an ageing heart or a condition following heart damage and heart inflammation. The slow onset of medicinal stimuli can often bring about a far-reaching improvement in symptoms over a long period of time. The whole person as a sufferer, not just the pain in the organ area, is treated in this form of therapy.
