Coloplast Comfeel® Plus Flexible hydrocolloid dressing reliably protects vulnerable skin and wounds from germs. The semi-permeable outer film regulates moisture, allowing the dressing to remain in place for up to seven days, depending on the condition of the wound.

Comfeel® Plus Flexible Hydrocolloid Dressing is indicated for a wide range of wounds with low to moderate exudation. The dressings are indicated for chronic wounds such as leg ulcers and pressure sores as well as acute wounds such as superficial burns, superficial second-degree burns, extraction sites, post-operative wounds and skin abrasions. The dressing can be worn for up to 7 days depending on the specific characteristics of the wound. Comfeel® Plus Flexible can be used as a primary and secondary dressing

Safe protection

Comfeel® Plus Flexible hydrocolloid dressings provide a moist wound healing environment and protect the wound in the final stages of wound healing. The outer film is water and bacteria repellent to protect the wound from external influences and smooth to reduce friction. The semi-permeable outer film allows moisture to evaporate while maintaining a moist wound healing environment

Wound monitoring

Comfeel® Plus Flexible Hydrocolloid Dressings feature a grid template for wound monitoring and a change indicator

User-friendly design

Comfeel® Plus Flexible Hydrocolloid Dressings have a 3-part non-touch application system that enables aseptic and controlled application. The turquoise-coloured touch points serve as a guide during the application process. The packaging has life-size photos of the dressings to facilitate product selection. The pouches have application illustrations for optimum guidance

Mode of action

When the dressing comes into contact with the wound exudate, it forms a viscous gel that absorbs the exudate but does not stick to the wound bed (1). Excess moisture evaporates through the semi-permeable outer film

Composition of the product

Comfeel® Plus Flexible consists of moisture-absorbing particles of sodium carboxyl methylcellulose (CMC) embedded in a synthetic, elastic adhesive. Calcium alginate has been added to the dressing to increase its absorbency. The outer film consists of a semi-permeable polyurethane film. Comfeel® Plus Flexible Transparent is formulated without pectin, known allergens such as latex or colophony and without animal derivatives such as gelatine.

Application

Preparation:

  • Clean the wound and wound edge according to local guidelines (e.g. with lukewarm water or physiological saline solution).
  • Carefully dry the skin surrounding the wound.
  • If a film, cream, ointment or similar product is used, allow the surrounding skin to dry completely before applying the product.

Application:

  • Choose a dressing that overlaps the edges of the wound by at least 1 to 2 centimetres.
  • Use the turquoise-coloured protective tabs to avoid touching the self-adhesive side and to ensure aseptic application.
  • Remove the transparent protective film.
  • Apply with the adhesive side facing the wound.
  • Remove the turquoise protective films one by one. Gently run your fingers along the edge of the product to ensure that the product is evenly and evenly applied to the skin.

Removal:

  • As the product absorbs the wound exudate, a white gel will form and the product itself will turn white.
  • The product should be changed when clinically indicated, when the exudate visibly approaches the edge of the product or after 7 days.
  • To remove the dressing, gently lift the corners of the product away from the wound.
  • A characteristic odour may develop under the dressing. This is normal and the odour will disappear after cleaning the wound.
