Bios Vitamin C Buffered 100 mg capsules are a food supplement containing buffered vitamin C. The buffered form is particularly gentle on the stomach; it is produced by adding a mineral salt to ascorbic acid.
Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, also known as ascorbic acid. The human body cannot produce vitamin C on its own; it must be regularly obtained from food. Vitamin C is naturally found primarily in fruit and vegetables. Vitamin C is added as an additive to many processed foods to extend their shelf life and preserve their original colour. It plays a role in many metabolic reactions, including the formation of connective tissue, bones, cartilage and gums.
It is considered an antioxidant and protects cells from oxidative stress. It can also improve the body’s absorption of iron. In buffered vitamin C, the acid is bound to an alkaline mineral. This makes the vitamin C gentler on the stomach and very well tolerated, even by people with sensitive stomachs.
