Bios Pycnogenol® 30 mg capsules are a dietary supplement containing pine bark extract.

Pycnogenol® is a natural plant extract from the bark of the French maritime pine (Pinus pinaster). This patented product has a high content of proanthocyanidins (65-75%) and is rich in various antioxidant organic acids and bioflavonoids. As a powerful antioxidant, Pycnogenol® binds free radicals and thus promotes the antioxidant potential of each individual cell. Free radicals are highly reactive compounds that attack substances in the human body in an untargeted manner due to their high reactivity. Although the human organism has developed a protective system for defence against these free radicals, this can be increased by the additional intake of plant components with antioxidant potential.

Maritime pine bark extract has a much higher antioxidant protective potential than vitamins E and C in comparison. One consequence is the reduction of histamine and cytokinin release. Thanks to its high content of oligomeric proanthocyanidins, or OPCs for short, Pycnogenol® supports microcirculation in the capillaries, with positive effects on the vascular walls. The OPCs have an extremely high bioavailability. This means that the absorption rate by the human body is very efficient
