Bios Jetlag 2.5 mg capsules are a food supplement containing melatonin and tomato powder. Melatonin is a hormone produced naturally by the body in the pineal gland (corpus pineale) and regulates the circadian rhythm.
Jet lag is caused by a disruption to the body’s circadian rhythm as a result of long-haul flights to different time zones. Travellers often find this disruption to their sleep-wake cycle very unpleasant, as it can take several days to fully recover. However, the body’s sleep-wake cycle is controlled by the hormone melatonin, which is produced by the pineal gland in the brain: as darkness falls, the body increases its production of sleep-promoting melatonin; it is prepared for sleep.
Whether travelling or at home, this naturally occurring hormone can be used to combat tiredness the following day: melatonin helps to alleviate the subjective symptoms of jet lag and to reduce the time it takes to fall asleep. This beneficial effect is achieved by taking at least 1 mg of melatonin immediately before going to bed.
Indications
- For a restful night’s sleep
- To alleviate the subjective symptoms of jet lag
