Bios Isoleucine 500 mg capsules are a food supplement containing the essential amino acid L-isoleucine.

Isoleucine is an essential, branched-chain amino acid that the body cannot produce itself. This amino acid is crucial for the synthesis of other amino acids and for the formation of proteins. Isoleucine stimulates the release of insulin and promotes the uptake of glucose and other amino acids into muscle cells. During physical activity, particularly when glucose reserves in the muscle cells are running low during exercise, isoleucine helps to produce new glucose via gluconeogenesis (glucose synthesis). 

The breakdown of isoleucine yields acetyl-CoA and propionyl-CoA, which are important components of human metabolism. Isoleucine also activates the growth hormone somatotropin, which has muscle-building properties. Isoleucine is therefore of particular interest to competitive athletes in strength and endurance sports.
