Bios Isoleucine 500 mg capsules are a food supplement containing the essential amino acid L-isoleucine.
Isoleucine is an essential, branched-chain amino acid that the body cannot produce itself. This amino acid is crucial for the synthesis of other amino acids and for the formation of proteins. Isoleucine stimulates the release of insulin and promotes the uptake of glucose and other amino acids into the muscle cells. During physical activity, especially when the glucose reserves in the muscle cells are depleted during training, isoleucine is used to form new glucose by means of gluconeogenesis (glucose synthesis).
The breakdown of isoleucine provides acetyl-CoA and propionyl-CoA, important components of the human metabolism. The growth hormone somatotropin is also activated by isoleucine, which has muscle-building properties. Isoleucine is therefore of particular interest to competitive athletes in the strength and endurance sector.
