Bios green-lipped mussel capsules are a dietary supplement containing green-lipped mussel powder. The green-lipped mussel can only be found in the waters around New Zealand, where it is also cultivated.
The green-lipped mussel (Perna canaliculus) is found in the waters around New Zealand and is characterised by its high content of glycosaminoglycans. These substances occur naturally in joint cartilage, synovial fluid and connective tissue and have the special property of binding water. This increases the elasticity of the tissue. To produce the mussel powder, the shells are removed from the mussels and cleaned. The water is then removed in a particularly gentle drying process so that the biological activity is retained. Green-lipped mussel Bios capsules contain the powder of this special mussel, which has a beneficial effect on stressed joints. This preparation is also suitable as a dietary supplement for athletes and also contains glutamine and vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 contributes to normal protein and glycogen metabolism
