The non-essential amino acid glutamine is not only an indispensable building block for proteins, but also makes up the largest proportion of so-called free amino acids in the body. The need for glutamine is particularly high during stress and intensive physical exertion. As glutamine is a component of muscles, athletes in particular rely on the supply of additional glutamine.
