Frankincense is obtained from various Boswellia species from the balsam tree family (Burseraceae). A distinction is made between African and Indian frankincense. We use the resin of the Indian frankincense tree (Boswellia serrata) for our capsules. The resin has been used as an important remedy in traditional Indian naturopathy for over 3,000 years. According to Ayurveda, frankincense has a harmonising effect on the human energy cycle and its resin is used in this medicine for various ailments. In addition to numerous substances such as essential oils and tannins, frankincense resin also contains boswellic acids.
