Bios Calcium + Vitamin D3 capsules provide a high-dose combination of calcium and vitamin D3 for strong bones and teeth. Vitamin D3 supports the absorption of calcium and contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system.
Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the human body. This mineral is of particular importance for maintaining normal bones (bone density) and normal teeth, and plays an essential role in human energy metabolism. Furthermore, calcium is involved in the transmission of nerve impulses in muscles and nerves, as well as in the stabilisation of cell membranes and blood clotting. Vitamin D belongs to the group of fat-soluble vitamins. It occupies a special position amongst vitamins, as it can be produced in the skin with the help of UV-B rays from sunlight. In addition, vitamin D regulates calcium absorption and promotes the incorporation of calcium and phosphate into bones and teeth (mineralisation), thereby making them hard and strong. Calcium and vitamin D are essential for the normal growth and development of bones in children. Calcium and vitamin D help to reduce the loss of bone mineral density in post-menopausal women. Low bone mineral density is a risk factor for osteoporotic fractures.
