Biatain® Silicone Ag is an antimicrobial wound dressing with silver that prevents infections and promotes wound healing. The soft silicone foam dressing moulds to the wound and enables painless dressing changes.

Biatain Silicone Ag - excellent absorption with gentle adhesion, for infected wounds. Biatain Silicone Ag is a soft, flexible and conformable foam dressing with a patented silver complex with broad antimicrobial activity and gentle silicone adhesion. Biatain® Silicone Ag is indicated for a wide range of exuding wounds with delayed healing due to bacteria and wounds at risk of infection.

The product is intended for moist wound healing and exudate management of wounds with delayed healing due to bacteria or wounds at risk of infection. The product is intended for use by healthcare professionals and by patients under the supervision of healthcare professionals.

Indications for use

Biatain Silicone Ag:

• is indicated for a wide range of low to heavily exuding wounds with delayed healing due to bacteria or wounds at risk of infection. These include acute wounds such as second-degree burns, split-thickness wounds, post-operative wounds and traumatic wounds as well as chronic wounds such as leg ulcers, pressure sores and diabetic foot syndrome.

Dosage form

• Silicone foam dressing sterile
• Wound dressing size: 15 x 15 cm
• Wound dressing size: 10.5 x 10.5 cm

How to use

Preparation:

• Clean the wound and wound edge according to local guidelines (e.g. with lukewarm water or physiological saline solution).
• Carefully dry the wound edge.
• If a film, cream, ointment or similar product is used, allow the wound edge to dry before applying the product.
• If the wound is slightly exuding, the product can be moistened with sterile physiological saline solution before application.

Application:

• Select a product with a foam pad that overlaps the wound edges by approximately 1 to 2 centimetres.
• Open the bag and remove the product from the packaging.
• Hold by the protective films to avoid touching the adhesive side and to ensure aseptic application.
• Remove the centre protective film.
• Apply with the adhesive side facing the wound.
• Remove the remaining protective films one by one.
• Gently run your fingers along the edge of the product to ensure that the product is evenly and evenly applied to the skin.

Remove the product:

• The product should be changed when clinically indicated, when exudate is visibly approaching the edge of the foam or after 7 days.
• First loosen the adhesive edge and then carefully lift and remove the product from the wound. If the product is difficult to remove, it should be moistened with water or saline solution until it can be removed easily.
• The product may cause temporary discolouration of the wound bed, which can be removed by gentle washing.
