Biatain® Ibu Soft-Hold is a gently adherent, soft, flexible, absorbent foam dressing with ibuprofen and a gently adherent adhesive layer. Excellent absorption for the treatment of painful, difficult to dress wounds.
Biatain Ibu soft-adhesive can be used to treat a wide range of exuding wounds, particularly leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, second-degree burns, post-operative wounds, skin abrasions and non-infected diabetic foot ulcers. Biatain Ibu soft-adhesive can be used under compression therapy. Biatain Ibu soft-adhesive should not be used to treat split skin donor sites. Biatain Ibu soft-adhesive is a soft, flexible, absorbent foam dressing. Biatain Ibu is the first and only dressing that combines moist wound healing and local release of ibuprofen.
- Unique 3D foam structure for excellent absorption: On contact with wound exudate, Biatain's unique 3D foam structure adapts perfectly to the wound bed and the contours of the wound - even under compression.
- Soft and flexible wound dressing: Biatain Ibu soft-adhesive is a soft and flexible wound dressing that is very comfortable to wear.
- Combines moist wound healing and local release of ibuprofen: On contact with wound exudate, a small dose of ibuprofen is continuously released into the wound for the entire time the dressing is worn (up to 7 days).
- Wound healing does not have to be painful: comparative studies show a reduction in wound pain with wound care using Biatain Ibu compared to wound care using dressings without ibuprofen.
- Mode of action: Ibuprofen is released when the foam dressing comes into contact with wound exudate.
Areas of application
- Indicated for a wide range of wounds with little to heavy exudate. These include acute wounds such as second-degree burns, post-operative wounds and traumatic wounds as well as chronic wounds such as leg ulcers, pressure sores and non-infectious diabetic foot syndrome.
- Can relieve wound pain caused by tissue damage
- Can be combined with compression therapy

How to use
Prepare:
- Clean the wound and wound edge according to local guidelines, e.g. with lukewarm water or physiological saline solution.
- Carefully dry the wound edge.
- If a film, cream, ointment or similar product is used, allow the wound edge to dry before applying the product.
- If the wound is slightly exuding, the product can be moistened with sterile physiological saline solution before application.
Application:
- Choose a product where the foam overlaps the wound edge by at least 1-2 centimetres. For larger products, e.g. 20 cm x 20 cm, the foam must overlap the wound edge by at least 2 cm.
- Ensure aseptic handling when applying the dressing. Avoid touching the unprinted side of the foam during application. Use tweezers if necessary.
- Remove the transparent protective film.
- Apply the unprinted side of the foam to the wound.
- A second dressing is necessary for fixation. Do not cover the entire product with an occlusive secondary dressing.
Removal:
- The product should be changed when clinically indicated, when exudate is visibly approaching the edge of the foam or after 7 days.
- Carefully lift the corners of the product away from the wound and remove the product.
