Biatain® Alginate Ag is a highly absorbent alginate dressing with silver for moderately to heavily exuding, infected wounds. Ideal absorption for the treatment of infected, scabbed wounds and wound cavities.

Biatain Alginate Ag can be used on all moderately to heavily exuding wounds of partial to full thickness, especially leg ulcers, decubitus ulcers, diabetic foot syndrome, split-thickness wounds, traumatic wounds and second-degree burns. Biatain Alginate Ag can be used on infected wounds and wounds with a risk of infection. Biatain Alginate Ag can be used under a compression bandage. Biatain Alginate Ag should not be used on dry or slightly exuding wounds or to stop severe bleeding.

• Ideal for wound cavities in infected wounds: the woven material structure and high cohesion of the dressing make it possible to cut it to the size, shape and depth of the wound as required. The dressing adapts very well to the contours of the wound and thus ensures optimum infection management.
• Patented with a silver complex with a broad antimicrobial spectrum of activity: Biatain Alginate Ag offers a sustained antimicrobial effect for the entire wearing time (up to 7 days).
• High cohesion: The very high cohesion allows the dressing to be removed in one piece.
• Minimised risk of maceration and leakage: Thanks to Biatain Alginate Ag's ability to absorb and gel on contact with wound exudate, the exudate is effectively bound in the gel and leakage, which can cause maceration of the surrounding skin, is prevented.
• Proven haemostatic effect: In contrast to hydrofibre dressings, Biatain Alginate Ag has a proven haemostatic effect, i.e. it can stop minor bleeding.
• Mode of action: On contact with wound exudate, Biatain Alginate Ag turns into a soft, cohesive gel that moulds to the contours of the wound and thus ensures optimum infection prevention. The patented silver complex releases ions in the presence of wound exudate.
• Product composition: Biatain Alginate Ag is an alginate dressing made from calcium alginate, carboxylmethylcellulose (CMC) and a silver ion complex.
