Betaoctine® 1 mg/ml + 20 mg/ml spray for application to the skin, solution is an over-the-counter medicine with the active ingredients: octenidine dihydrochloride and phenoxyethanol, which have antiseptic properties.

Betaoctine is a solution for application to the skin that contains the active ingredients octenidine dihydrochloride and phenoxyethanol, which have antiseptic properties. Betaoctine is used for repeated, temporary, external, preventive antiseptic treatment of the mucous membranes and adjacent skin prior to diagnostic procedures on or near the genital and excretory organs and prior to the insertion of a urinary catheter.

It is also used for the antiseptic treatment of small superficial wounds and for skin disinfection prior to non-surgical procedures.

The in vitro spectrum of activity of Betaoctine includes gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, enveloped viruses and yeasts.

Betaoctine can be used in patients of all age groups.

How to use

• The solution is intended for topical and external use.
• For additional antiseptic treatment of small superficial wounds and for external disinfection of the mucous membranes and skin in the genital area of men and women, the medicine is applied and left to act for 1 minute before the next treatment step is carried out.
• For skin disinfection before non-surgical procedures, apply and leave to act for 2 minutes.
• The solution is intended for use on the skin and mucous membranes in the genital area, but not in the oral cavity. It is intended for superficial use only (application as a spray).
• The mucous membranes and the skin in the genital area that are to be disinfected must be evenly and thoroughly moistened with the undiluted antiseptic.
• Betaoctine is sprayed directly onto the accessible areas of skin and mucous membranes. Even moistening of the area must be ensured. Allow to act for 60 - 120 seconds (1 spray = 0.15 - 0.19 ml).
• Use on children and adolescents: The recommended dose is the same for adults and children.
• Duration of treatment: Do not use this product for longer than 2 weeks without consulting your doctor.

Ingredients

• What Betaoctine contains - The active ingredients are octenidine dihydrochloride and phenoxyethanol. 1 ml of the colourless solution contains 1 mg octenidine dihydrochloride and 20 mg phenoxyethanol.
• The other ingredients are sodium gluconate, cocamidopropyl betaine solution 30 % (contains cocamidopropyl betaine, water, sodium chloride), glycerine, sodium hydroxide or hydrochloric acid solution 1N (for pH adjustment), purified water.
