- The argan tree is a distant relative of the almond tree and grows almost exclusively in Morocco, where this fruit was already very popular and consumed when Berber tribes crossed the desert. Argan oil has long been popular as a body care and hair treatment product, and its delicate nutty flavour makes it a favourite in gourmet cuisine.
- Application: Argan oil is extracted from the "almonds" (seeds) of the argan, ardjan or ironwood tree. Argan almonds have a very high essential oil content (over 80%). The linoleic acid content (approx. 35%) is what makes argan oil so valuable. Argan oil also has a high content of natural vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol 620mg/kg compared to 320mg/kg in olive oil). Due to its very high content of unsaturated fatty acids and natural antioxidants, the skin is ideally nourished and protected from harmful environmental influences.
