With a unique three-layer structure for effective exudate management to support a moist wound healing environment^.1-3 Use for secondary healing on superficial granulating wounds, chronic and acute exuding wounds, deep to medium depth wounds such as pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, diabetic foot syndrome, malignant wounds, surgical wounds, first and second degree burns, donor sites, growths.

Dosage form

• Adhesive foam dressing, sterile
• Wound dressing size: 12.5 x 12.5 cm
• Wound dressing size: 10 x 10 cm

Application

1. Clean the wound as specified in the local treatment pathway.
2. Select suitable dressing size. Allevyn Adhesive can be cut to the correct size. Always use sterile conditions when cutting the dressing.
3. Prepare and clean the surrounding skin and remove excess moisture. If there is a lot of hair, remove hair so that the dressing fits as closely as possible to the skin. Sensitive skin can be treated with Skin-Prep0 wipes before applying Allevyn Adhesive.
4. Under sterile conditions, peel off one of the protective films and place Allevyn Adhesive with the adhesive side on the skin.
5. Remove the other protective film and smooth the dressing over the rest of the wound without stretching it, so that no folds are created. The adsorbent part of the dressing must adhere to the entire wound surface.
6. Once the dressing has been cut to size, cover exposed foam with adequate film dressing, taking care not to cover the entire dressing.
7. When positioning Allevyn Adhesive Sacrum, place the narrow end of the dressing at least 2 cm above the anal sphincter and then smooth the dressing over the sacrum.

Frequency of dressing changes: At the start of treatment, Allevyn Adhesive should be checked as specified in the local treatment pathway. If applied to an infected wound, it must be checked and treated as specified in the local treatment pathway. Dressings may remain on the wound for up to 7 days depending on the condition of the wound and surrounding skin or until exudate becomes visible and reaches a maximum of 0.5 cm to the edge of the dressing, whichever occurs first. Sacral dressings may only be left on the wound for up to 5 days, but the increased risk of contamination and infection in this area may require greater control of adequate adhesion. When the dressing should be changed will depend on clinical judgement and local clinical protocols should also be followed.

Removing the dressing: To remove Allevyn Adhesive, lift one edge of the dressing and slowly peel it away until it is completely detached from the wound. Sacral dressings should be removed from the top edge down towards the anus to minimise the risk of contamination.
